Great community pool en-route from Atlantic City to Philadelphia.
Not Atlantic City, but a great community pool.
A quick trip down to Atlantic City today from Philadelphia (in the second Dodge Challenger of the week - this one with Louisiana plates!) for a meeting, not going to miss the opportunity to add a new pool to the list and tick New Jersey off the list! Was hoping for an Atlantic City pool but couldn’t find anything suitable.
You can pretty much see Atlantic City in two hours, breeze through a casino, devour a seafood lunch and take a walk along the boardwalk, done! When you’ve just come from five days in Las Vegas, AC doesn’t quite have the shine.
A quick Google and I find a perfect pool just off the Atlantic City Expressway (Wow the tolls are steep Philly to AC!), the community recreation center at St. Matthews, in Monroe Township, New Jersey.
The center is attached to a small town community church, park-up and head into the building - it’s very quiet, hope it’s open!
Chat with a lovely lady on reception and guy waiting for his …something-ball senior team to arrive (he described it as ping-pong tennis with larger balls!), $6.50 and no forms to fill! Straight through to the pool to find it’s empty, the entire 25-yards, 6-lanes to myself! Make a start and finish a 1,500-yard swim in no time, just as others enter the pool. All in, a great swim.

The pool and changing facilities have a few years on them but are well looked after, everything is spotlessly clean and well cared for, the A-typical community pool. The water is crystal clear and perfect cool temperature. Great pool.
