Early morning swim in Somerset - after 6km yesterday!

Popular local community pool with an unusual 9-lane layout! Good water quality, clean and clear. Lane speeds are well observed but rope lanes, my biggest dislike in any pool! Overall this is a great facility.

It’s a sunny morning, and despite aching shoulders from yesterday’s two swim sessions, I’m keen to see if we can make it a third and 9km in two days!

This was one of the rare free swims. On arrival, the reception was closed, the lights were out, and no one was around! Hutton Moor if I return, I will be sure to pay double, local community pools need all the support we can give them.

The pool is 25m long, but I can’t quite figure out the width; it has nine lanes, but they seem average width. Unfortunately, they are basic rope lanes - and the fast lane is against the pool wall, so this was a very choppy 3km swim. The average pace was pretty decent, considering it was like an ocean swell at times!

Swim done, dry off with the flannel-sized towel I find in my bag and off to work.
