Sunrise swim in Florida!

Adding the first new pool to the list in almost eight months! Hopefully a few to come over the next couple of weeks as I make a multi-stop trip around Florida, travelling to a conference in Fort Lauderdale via the Gulf coast!

Arrived into Tampa last night on Virgin Atlantics new(ish) route from London hethrow (and new A330neo plane - Virgin give witty names to all of their planes, this was ‘Billie Holiday’). Awake early with the current (only) four hour time difference, which gives some time to clear the inbox before a quick ‘poolfinder’ to locate the nearest pool … St. Petes Beach Community Pool.

The pool deck is located directly alongside the intercoastal waterway, leading to the Boca Ciega Bay Aquatic Preserve. I arrived at the pool at sun rise, paid my $4 entry fee and joined the six-or-so other early morning swimmers.

Glad to be back in American 25 yard pools - the 2.14 meters per length saving makes suprising difference. Complete a 2,500 yard swim the head towards St. Johns Pass for breakfast at Crabby’s on the Pass restaurant, coffee, omelete and dolphins!
