Northfield Leisure Centre

Late night Bristol swim.

Driving home from Bristol, I decided to take the route directly through Birmingham to visit, in confusing style, Northfield Leisure Centre on Bristol Road, which sounds very similar to the Horfield Leisure Centre pool in Bristol, which I swam last night!

Sorry Birmingham City Council, but these pools and swim sessions are not the route to improving community health and promoting swimming as a sport! I appreciate the pool is for everyone, and I absolutely support that - but you are not catering for everyone, ‘proper’ swimmers (sound sa bit pretentious, but let’s call them people that can swim at the per length pace often found on lane swim etiquette posters 30 seconds / 25 metres for a fast lane) find it impossible to swim in these sessions. You have ‘public swim’ sessions on the timetable for the non-lane swim paddlers.

Final moan… I think someone lathered up with soap and then jumped in the pool! Towards the end of the session, the pool water was neat shower gel!

Review

(10/100)

Another Birmingham City Council cookie-cutter pool. The new-ish facilities are nice, but these don't have proper fitness lane swim appeal. The entrance fee is average.
