Afternoon swim in oven-like pool near old town Vegas!
In Las Vegas for the IMEX conference, and with work wrapped up for the day, I’ve got plans to check out Fremont Street and old-town Vegas later. But first, I’ve tracked down a nearby pool—because any pool on a road called Bonanza has to be worth a visit!
The pool is a 50-meter by 25-yard indoor setup, currently configured with 14 cross-width 25-yard lanes and a couple of springboard diving boards. Las Vegas is in the middle of an unseasonably warm late-October heatwave, and the air temperature on the pool deck is nothing short of brutal—easily over 110 degrees, if not more. The clear polycarbonate roof? Not doing anyone any favours!
Thankfully, the pool itself is blissfully cool—probably doesn’t even need a heater here! The water temp was perfect, and with the place almost empty, there was loads of space to stretch out.
Worked through a 2,000-yard swim, now off to Fremont Street now for some old-town Vegas exploring.
Pool Review
Great swim, great facility. The pool is spotless, well-maintained, and I believe recently refurbished - they clearly did a fantastic job. That said, someone definitely forgot to factor in air conditioning for the pool deck!
