On my way back up North to the Hilton Waikoloa Village after a day of snorkelling in the fantastic Kealakekua Bay (Captain Cook), just south of Kailua-Kona.

I've found the Kona Community Aquatic Center on the Swimmers Guide website; it's pretty close to the road home and is located on the old Kona airport field. It's an eight lane, 50m pool split with a floating boom into two 25 yard pools

I arrive to find the pool is about to close; keen to add this one to the list - and get dried sea salt off me, I jump in and make this a super quick 1,200-yard swim (the minimum distance I aim for in a yards pool).
