Another Bristol pool on the list!

I'm slowly working through the stock of Bristol swimming pools!

This is my first swim for almost two weeks after a lingering cold, followed by a university open day / half-term trip with the youngest kid down to Falmouth, which, even with the spectacular Gyllyngvase Beach, could do with a pool for the other 358 days of not so sunny weather!

As usual, I arrived at the pool mid-session! The guy in reception was adamant that I needed to pick the 7:30pm or 8:30pm session! Decide on the latter and slowly walk down (reception is upstairs from the car park, the pool is back down at ground level!) to the poolside changing facilities.

The earlier session swimmers were starting to thin, so I decided to jump in the fast lane against the far wall 15 minutes early and make a start. 700 meters in, I see the lifeguard waving at me from the poolside. Private hire has the lane booked, so I'm moved over. The private hire is some form of diving/freediving/monofin swim club - I'm not 100% sure, even after swimming alongside them for another 20 minutes.

Finish up 2km and jump out. I've made the mistake of adding an orange Phizz tablet to my water bottle, which gives a terrible taste in the mouth when mixed with chlorine!

Pool Review

(60 / 100)

Unusual pool design and building layout - but in a good way. Very clean and well-maintained. The £5.80 entrance fee and a decent lane swim timetable make this a good lap-swim spot.
