4th pool in four days.
Quick swim 15 minutes down the road from home in Lichfield. I’ve lived near this pool for years but have yet to find out where exactly in Lichfield it is! As we’re on a four-day new pool roll, I’ve picked somewhere local-ish for a Thursday evening swim and the hottest day of the year so far!
The timetable has an hour session starting at 6 pm, I’m definitely cutting it fine, and their session has a hard stop at 7 pm for a club session. Apple Maps suggest I’ve arrived, but I seem to be in a school car park! Plug the address into Google Maps and realise I need to take the next turn - which also seems to be a school car park! Notice the turning off the driveway to a very 70’s looking school building and spot the leisure centre entrance. Make it into the pool with just enough time to complete a 2km session.
The pool is quiet, and I have a lane to myself, but with high sides and float-rope lanes, even a few swimmers make it a choppy swim - and the air temp in the pool building is hot hot hot!
Finish up just as the club swimmers arrive; glad to get out as the pool feels jacuzzi-like by the end of the session!
